I don't know about submerging the whole thing. I have some and what works for me is getting some kind of vase and using aquarium rocks or marbles to hold it upright and filling with water. Just make sure to keep the roots under the water and keep it out of direct sunlight. They like indirect sunlight. I've noticed mine even like it a little dark.
