I have searched and searched and can't find any information with the names you've given. Do you have a botanical or Latin name?

It sounds like some kind of root rot or crown rot from your description. If the rot is too severe, there may be nothing you can do. Try unpotting the fern and take a look at the condition of the soil. You may need to repot in fresh soil and cut away any brown or rotten roots. If you've tried all those things and nothing is working but you have been misting all this time, stop misting. It may be a fern that doesn't like that much moisture. Water when the top inch of soil is dry. Just put your finger in to the first knuckle. If it's dry, water.
