spathiphyllum help!!

: my friend gave me a spathiphyllum house plant a couple of months ago that was not in good condition... some leaves have some black spots on them.. ive been cutting them off and so far so good. but just recently ive notice something growing out of the soil.. its a yellow color and they look like "mushrooms" or some what i think its a fungus but im not sure... what should i do? please help
