If you have ideal conditions, the stalk may put out some roots. The best thing would be to have the bottom part of the plant. To propagate Dracaena's, greenhouses slice half way into the stalk at an angle, pack the cut with wet moss, cover with plastic and in time roots grow from the cut of the upper stalk. It is then totally cut off and potted. New growth will grow at the cut of the lower portion. The best you can do now is keep the stalks in water and remove several of the lower leaves (as they will rot in the water).
