Hi Jenna,
You're so very welcome. I don't know where "up here" is, but I suspect you're in the North. You might want to consider another small green plant like a sanseveria for indoor winter interest. There are several different types like the 'snake plant', also known as 'mother in law's tongue'. Then there's a cute small one that I have called Sanseveria trifasciata.
