Dying Yucca

We have been given a yucca by a friend because it was too big for his house. It is quite tall over 6 foot with a long trunk, and bends over. We placed it in the corner of our living room and the leaves immediately started to turn brown and die. The only green ones left ar right at the top. We have a water feature underneath and I wondered if maybe this is causing a problem so we have now turned it off. Also it is not in a very sunny position. Any advice as to how we can revive it would be great.
