: : I have a corn plant, i guess that is what it is called. Its about 7foot tall and it looks like corn. i have had  since 1988. Its getting to tall and leaning over a little. What i need to know can i cut it off and start another plant or will that kill it.I love that plant, just need to down size it a little or make babies  out of part of it. It only has two stalks comming out of the base., but they are full and tall. I look for one day, to come home and i wont be able to get in the door. LOL please someone HELP

: Maybe you could give it a name.  Anyway, the answer to your question is YES!  You can cut the stem.  New tops will eventually grow from where you've cut it.  I've rooted the tops in water and it takes a while, but you shall be rewarded.  Also, you can air layer to propagate it.  Here's a site that should be helpful.  By the way, your plant is a dracaena.
