Regarding the pot, part of the problem is that this plant was in a sort of gift basket that was definitely not designed for long-term use. I went to a nursery to buy the pot, and this was the size they recommended. The pot does appear to be a 12" pot, and the plant is about 20" tall ABOVE the soil; there are a few inches of height below the soil level, too, since I worried when potting it that it would tip over from its own weight. The plant is so tall that my non-plant expert instincts feel odd putting it in a pot that is only 8" tall, but of course, I am a rank amateur when it comes to plants. I will start watering more often and see how it goes. I will also add just a little milk to the water. Thank you so much for all your suggestions! Irith (Eereet)
