: : I think it does sound like a night blooming cereus or relative. The botanical name you need to search for is Epiphyllum. They do have two types of growth on the same plant.

So the woman at the botanical garden said...well it is at least in the cereus group. Well, I see no evidence of that on the internet. The cereus look like stalwart cacti. This plant does not look like a cactus.
