As I was walking down the street, A billboard caught my eye
The advertisements written there would make one laugh and cry.
Snow and sleet had almost washed that old billboard away
And the pieces that were left there would make it seem to say:
"Smoke a Coca Cola, Tomato catsup a cigarette.
See Lillian Russell wrestle, with a box of Cascaret.
Pork and Beans will meet tonight in a far-off village fight.
And Chauncey DePieu will speak about Suppolio tonight.
Paruna for the horses, it is the best in town.
Castoria for the measles, if you pay ten dollars down.
Teeth extracted without pain, for the price of half a dime,
And overcoats will sell tonight a little at a time."
I don't get most of the political or product references, this song was uh.. a little before my time (My grandfather was born in 1898). So don't blame me for misspellings!
Hope this helps.
