When I was in High School in Puerto Rico, this is the sad version I was
taught. It is not about faulty brakes but about a stuck button.

There was a man
who lived in a shack
and kept his goat
right in the back.
One day that goat
wasn't feeling fine
and ate three red shirts
right off the line.
Oh Bill got mad
gave him a whack
and tied him up
to the railroad track.
He gave three groans,
three moans of pain
coughed out the shirts
to flag the train.
But a button got stuck
in the middle of his throat
and that was the end
of Bill Grogan's goat.
