I think the text must be mainly biblical. I have heard that `One is one ..´refers to God. `The lily-white boys´ are Jesus and his cousin John the Baptist. `The three rivals´ refers jokingly to the Trinity. Four, ten, eleven and twelve are obvious. I think that the five symbols at your door refer to England during the Reformation when Catholics could identify Caholic houses by a pattern of five (the five wounds of Christ) visible on the house. I know that this was used in the stonework of chimneys. I´m still mystified as to what six, seven, eight and nine are.
