new bloom on dendrobium is wilting

: Over the last 2 months I noticed a growth spurt on my dendrobium wherein a new cane shot up and a new flower stalk was just emerging. I was joyful, but then within the past week, the flower stalk started wilting and I doubt if I will see flower now.   The only change I could think of was that the plant was watered just once a week during the holidays, since then I have been watering it more regularly (every other day or so) with a spray bottle after I notice the new flower stalk. I supplement the water with some Miracle Glo 8-7-6.  Am I watering too much? I don't know what to do now.
