I'll tell you what little I know about orchids. They don't require a lot of water and the roots need room to breathe. The bark holds a little water and the rest drains out the bottom. This is good. They also like humidity which the moss might be helping to keep high. The water will hopefully evaporate out of the moss provide the leaves with the humidity. The most common orchid mistake is often overwatering. This is probably what is causing the flowers to die and the leaves to yellow. It also might not be getting enough light. Water less often and keep near a flourecent light for long hours during the day. Hopefully it won't die.
