The eyes are the nodes along the stem. There are more than one node depending on the plant; some may have five. If the plant is strong and vigorous, I like to leave three nodes from which next season I usually get another flower spike and occasional a "ki Ki" i.e.a baby plant. After a year the stem can be cut below the baby and potted.
