First Orchid

My first orchid is a white Phalaenopsis and it had 9 blooms on a thin stem (spike?). It lost all its blooms and the spike turned yellow but is still hanging on. Should that be cut back? There are two "stalks" and one baby stalk sprouting up - which seems to be thriving. It is in a small 4" plastic pot. Is it time to repot because of the new stalk? This one won't loose its leaves, right?
