Aloha Passion seems to be dispassionate....

: I bought an Aloha Passion at the NYC Orchid Show several months ago...She was doing fine until after her first spike. I noticed 3 new little spikes rising from the existing base...Next time I went to water her I noticed that the base of this round green thingy (Incidentally, I'm new to orchids-smile) seemed to be soft and mushy, so I cut it back (being careful to leave the new shoots intact). Now I am left with just the root ball and the 3 shoots, that are also not looking well...any advice?
