Is your orchid truly potted in soil? Very carefully (it is easy to break orchid roots) replace orchid plant into it's container. Then replace missing "soil" with either an orchid intended moss (sphagnum is a good one)or with an orchid intended bark. The potting medium should not hold water long as this is a primary cause for root disease in orchids. If you use moss to top off the current potting medium, do not pack it in tightly. Bark is easier as you can not pack it in. The roots will grow attached to the bark. The roots maintain moisture for the orchid as do pseudobulbs present in some types of orchids.
