I have been visiting Iowa and bought a columbine plant at a Farmer's market. I asked the lady if it would grow in Georgia (where I live) and she said it was good through zone 8. I have brought the plant home and want to put it in the ground but I neglected to ask her whether it needs sun or shade. I am thinking it should be in the sun as I saw other columbines planted there during our visit and they appeared to be in sunny areas. However the Georgia heat is much longer and hotter than in Iowa. My plant has deep red flowers with yellow centers. It is very pretty and I surely don't want to kill it. Any suggestions? Thanks so much. toni
