: : : : : I live is southwest Washington on a lot that slopes considerably.  I built a rock retaining wall to take some of the slope out of the back yard.  This bring me to my question...does anyone have ideas about a plant or plants that I can plant at the edge of the top of the wall, and they will cascade down and soften the wall with some color?  I have checked some nurseries in the area and they have suggested some vines.  I am not sure that is the look I want.

: : : : You don't say what your exposure is.  For full sun, try sedums.  There are many that are great groundcovers.  Also, chicks and hens can be planted in the wall as well as the sedums. Arabis often called rock cress would work. Alstromeria, campanulas, coreposis - moonbeam or zagreb and corydalis are some that come to mind. There are also hardy geraniums that would be wonderful cascading over the wall.  Try this site.

: : Thanks for the great help!  I have not had a chance to check the websites yet, but will today.  The sun exposure on the wall is full for mid-morning to sunset.  So, basically full all day...only early morning gets shade.  THanks again!
