: a friend gave me a plant a couple years ago and told me it was a poker plant. recently i looked up on the internet to learn more about the plant and noticed that my plant looked nothing like the poker plants on the internet; so now i'm wondering what it is. it has thorns along the trunk, it has never flowered, the leaves have very visable veins, they have smooth edges and close or bend in at night. can anyone tell me what it is and if it is a perreninal. thank you. lisas
