: I have two aquilegia plants (columbine) and I was wondering, if you cut them back for the winter or leave them the way they are. If I cut them back, pelase tell me how far back should I take them? It's usually best to wait until the frost gets them. They are still using the green to feed the roots. By the way, columbine is a short lived perennial, so let them go to seed and allow the new seedlings sprout. Only remove the ones you don't want. Newt
