: I have two autumn joy stonecrop plants - do you cut them back for the winter or do I leave them the way they are? If I do cut them back, how far? Hi again Sherri, I like your name! The autumn joy sedum is usually left alone for the winter. It looks nice with snow on the flower stalks. You can cut it back now or wait until late winter or early spring. Sometime in late February or March. Cut the stems to the ground when you do cut it back. Hope this helped,
