Hi Evelyn, It really is best not to prune in fall as that can stimulate more growth that won't have time to harden off before frost. If it's too unruly, just cut the stems that are the worst offenders. Keep in mind that spring bloomers should be pruned just after blooming and fall bloomers should be pruned in late winter or early spring - late February thru March. Newt
