: I put lavendar care in the search engine and came up with this site...and another's quest concerning lovely lavendar.I could not help.
I'm not sure of all that you are asking, but here goes. I wouldn't cover the lavender plants with leaves as they will hold in moisture and lavender plants don't like to be wet. I would also remove any leaves at the base of the plant. Once it is dormant and you have had a hard freeze (temp below 28*) then you can safely cut off some stems for your Christmas gifts. It's usually best to harvest the stems when the plants begin to bloom before the entire flower stalk completely opens. Secure the stems in small bunches with a rubberband (the stems will shrink as they dry) and hang unpside down in a dry and shady place with good air circulation. Hope this was helpful. |
