: You don't say if this is an outdoor or indoor plant.  You also don't say what you are spraying with.  Also, why do you think it's mealy bugs if you haven't seen any?  My advice is to know thine enemy!  Also, don't indescriminately spray an insecticide.  It isn't good for the plant if it's the wrong one or for you.

: If it truly is mealy bugs, then something environmentally friendly like insecticidal soap should work.  Once you know what it is, you could always look around here for something that is environmentally friendly.
