: Does anyone know anything about planting& caring for these. How long does it take for them to come up?

Elephant ears are annuals in zone 5, they like moisture and take FOREVER to come up.

I plant mine in early Feb in the house to get them started, they are just now starting to show some growth. If you live where they are annuals you will have to dig them up in the fall (like dahlias, cannas, glads etc)and store them in a cool dry spot for the winter, in order to save them.

They like water very much, a wed bed is ideal, in fact I had a few extras last year after planting them in my regular bed so I put them in a pot filled it up with gravel and placed them right into my fountain. They thrived there also.

They are easy to care for once you get them started, just plant them, fertilize them occasionally, keep them moist. And be prepared for everyone who walks by to ooo and aaaa over the huge leaves and how neat they look.
