: This year is my first attempt at any gardening ever.  I have three pots of mums that were here when I bought the house.  BEAUTIFUL blooms last fall!  I was told to cut them back after all the flowers had died and so I did.  I also put cedar mulch on them to help keep them warm (and the MD winter was colder than normal!).  Only one pot has any green in it at this point (mid May) and that is only a tiny bit.  When should I expect to see new growth, even just green??  Are they dead?? :-(
