I live in California so have no problems with cold weather. I bought two beautiful purple trumpet vines from a local garden center in June. I put them in two large ceramic containers with saucers and filled the containers with just potting soil and then soaked the vines with miracle grow. Since then I have just watered them with plain water every week . I have arranged the vines along some fencing on the deck. After two months all the flowers disappeared and now the leaves look mottled with purple and black spots The garden center has no idea what I have done wrong and feel it is the cold nights that we have been having (temperatures in the 50's). They also said that the vines are re-rooting themselves. They certainly don't look very healthy to me. Maybe I should not have given them miracle grow.Could you help me please. Thanks. Jeanette
