Cornus kousa
( Kousa Dogwood )
| Deciduous, large shrub to small tree with vase shape (young plant) to broadly conical form (old plant). Long lasting, creamy white bracts surround inconspicuous flowers and persist for up to 6 weeks. These star-shaped "flowers", as we refer to them, appear after foliage and give almost a Milky Way effect, and follow the Flowering Dogwood's bloom time by about 2 to 3 weeks. Also of interest is the raspberry-like fruit. |
| Important Info : Best in partial shade, but if planted in full sun, MUST receive adequate water. Not a drought or pollution tolerant plant. Mulch well to keep shallow roots cool and retain valuable moisture. |
