| This is a rounded to spreading, deciduous tree, to 25 feet tall. Leaves are ovate, often lobed, purple to dark green, up to 3 inches long. Red buds produce single to semidouble, large, crimson flowers that slightly fade in spring. Reblooming occasionally occurs in the fall. Produces wine red fruit approximately the size of a cherry. This tree does well in most soil, but will be more attractive if fed peat and compost. Very disease resistant. |
