| Deciduous shrub with upright, narrow growth to 15 feet tall with equal spread. Widely used as a hedge. Leaves are dark green, shiny, oval to obovate, to 3 inches in length. Green, unisexual flowers are borne in axillary clusters. In the fall, bears round, red fruit to 1/2 inch across, foliage becomes red. Best adapted to cold, dry areas with poor soil. |
