| This is an evergreen to semi-evergreen shrub. Growth is upright, to 12 feet tall and 10 feet wide. Leaves are medium green, shiny, oblong, to 3 inches in length. Shoots are red. Yellowish-white, unisexual flowers are borne in axillary clusters. In the fall, bears round, red fruit to 1/4 or an inch across, foliage becomes yellow. Best adapted to cold, dry areas with poor soil. Native to Western U.S. |
