| This evergreen conifer has a narrow, pyramidal growth habit with curved branches turned upwards at the tips. Bark is scaly, purple-brown, turning to red-brown; shoots are buff colored. Medium green leaves are needle-like, glossy, 4 sided, 1/2 to 3/4 inch long. Leaves are crowded at the upper part of stem and are spreading below. Female cones are red-brown, oblong, shiny, 1 to 2 inches long. Scales of cones are finely toothed, broadly blunt, and convex. Dwarf and slow growing varieties are available. |
