| This is a fast growing, conical, deciduous tree. Glossy leaves are ovate, dark-green on top, white underneath, to 8 inches long. Red male catkins, to 3 inches long, green females to 6 inches long. If male present, females release cloud-like cotton seeds. Leaves are strongly balsam scented when young, turning yellow in fall. |
| Important Info : Because this heavy-limbed tree is a fast grower, wood is brittle, so locate where dropping limbs will not be a problem. This is not the best tree to plant next to a driveway or house. |
