| This is an upright deciduous tree. Leaves are dense, ovate, often lobed, purple-red, dark green at maturity, up to 3 inches long. Dark red buds develop into carmine flowers in spring. Fruit are orange-yellow, persistent, approximately the size of a cherry. Grows 15 to 25 feet tall and 10 to 20 feet wide. This tree does well in most soil, but will be more attractive if fed peat and compost. Not disease resistant. |
