| This evergreen conifer has a broadly conical growth habit with spreading horizontal branches and purple brown bark. Leaves are dark green, linear, matte or glossy, 2 ranked and parted on either side of the shoots. Male plants bear yellow cones in the spring. Female plants have several variations such as Aurea, Erecta, Pyramidalis and Variegata to name a few. Fruits are red and juicy. Seeds are poisonous. The needles are 1/4 to 1/2 inch long, 1/10 inch wide and pointed. |
