Prunus persica nucipersica
( Flavortop Nectarine )
| 'Flavortop' is suited for the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic, lower Midwest and West. It produces large freestone fruits with red skin, yellow flesh and good flavor. Midseason bearing, vigorous and productive with showy flowers.
Most adaptable of all fruit trees for home gardens. When planting, they should be spaced to allow a spread of 20 to 25 feet. At 3 to 4 years of age, they begin to bear large crops and reach peak productivity at 8 to 12 years. To maintain size and encourage new growth, heavy pruning is needed. Nectarines, like peaches, require well-drained soil and a regular fertilizing program.
Peach leaf curl, peach tree borer, and curculio can be a problem. |
| Important Info : Most nectarine varieties are self fertile, not requiring a second tree. |
