| Upright, suckering , deciduous tree or shrub with velvety branches and shoots, resembling a deer's antler "in velvet". Leaves are fern-like, to 24 inches long, with 11 to 30 lance shaped, deeply dissected, dark green leaflets turning brilliant red and orange in the fall. Flowers are yellow-green and held in erect conicle panicles, which are followed on female plants by a conicle clusters of small round, crimson red, velvety fruit. Withstands both extreme heat and cold and grows in almost any soil. |
