| This is a broadly columnar, deciduous tree has peeling, red-brown to grey bark. Dark green leaves are ovate to elliptic, toothed to 4 inches long. Leaves turn orange, yellow, and red in autumn. In mid-summer, single, camellia-like, white flowers with yellow stamens are borne in pairs or singly along shoots. A very showy tree. Prefers acid soils. |
