Magnolia acuminata
( Cucumbertree Magnolia )
| This large tree grows to be 80' tall and of almost equal spread over time. Perfect for a large property, the Cucumbertree Magnolia, like other magnolias, has lightly fragrant, May to June flowers, though not as showy as flowers of Magnolia grandiflora. In October, rosey-red fruit appears for a short while to reveal a fruit that slightly resembles a cucumber, thus the tree's name. This large tree will thrive if planted in deep, loamy, mildly acid to alkaline soils. May prove difficult to transplant, so try to plant when young and small. |
| Important Info : Be sure that this tree is not planted too deep, and prune, if needed after flowering. |
