| This is a narrow and upright deciduous tree. Star-shaped leaves are reminiscent of some maples. They have 5-7 lobes and appear either alternate or palmate and medium green and glossy, turning to striking yellows in the Midwest, while turning yellow, peach, pink, orange and red in the West. Leaves are followed by mace-like fruit clusters. Plant in full sun for best fall colors. Many homeowners will object to the gum balls so consider the cultivar 'Rotundiloba' which is fruitless. |
