Rhododendron hybrida
( Emily Carla Azalea )
| Emily is a compact, medium-sized, evergreen shrub. Showy, large trusses of up to 3, hose-in-hose, single, dark rose-red flowers are borne April 18 to 30. The Carla hybrids were produced at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina, so the bloom times are based on observations made in this area.
Plant as you would any of the other azaleas: high and in well-drained, acid soil, rich with organic matter. Though azaleas have a potentially large list of possible pest and disease problems, they are usually trouble free if planted correctly in proper cultural conditions. |
