| Evergreen tree reaching 100 feet tall. Twigs are covered with many fine tawny hairs. Leathery leaves, with downy undersides. Very fragrant white flowers about 3 inches across. Native to damp woodlands at 5200-7100 feet altitude in Panama, and some parts of Costa Rica. Locally known as 'Vaco'. Some consider it a variety of M. poasana. |
