| Syringa vulgaris is a leggy shrub, somewhat irregular in shape. Developed in Southern California, the Descanso hybrids are tolerant of mild winters. Blue Boy has fragrant, blue flowers held on 4 to 8 inch panicles, appearing in late spring to early summer. Prefers a neutral soil, with peat or leaf mold enrichment. Remove the dead flower heads. Fine for the shrub border, not really a specimen plant. |
