| Syringa oblata var. dilatata is a vigorous, upright to spreading large shrub or small tree, 10 to 15 feet tall, related to S.vulgaris. Leaves are heart-shaped, to 3 inches long. New foliage has a bronze cast to it, changing to dark green, light red to red purple in the fall. Unusual among the lilacs in having any fall color. Flowers are pale lilac, to purple-lilac, on 2 to 5 inch panicles. Native to Korea. |
