| Spiraea japonica Glowing Mound is a rounded, compact deciduous shrub with a mounding habit. Sharply toothed, lance-shaped leaves are pinkish-yellow, up to 3 inches long, turning bronzy-pink in fall. In summer, small, pink flowers are borne sparingly in upright, rounded corymbs to 3 inches in diamter. Spiraea can be nipped by late frost, prune after flowering. Fast growing, good for filling a space in a shrub border. Prefers full sun and well drained soil. Native to China and Japan. |
