| C. glabra grows from 50-60' tall, 25-35' wide, can reach 100' tall. Open, uniform habit with an oval crown of contorted branches. Leaves are compound palmate, dark yellowish green. Prefers rich, well drained to dry soil. The seeds are very bitter and astringent, giving it its common name. Has an excellent rich yellow fall color. Native from Maine to Ontario, south to Florida, Mississippi. |
