| This tree is cultivated for its stately growth habit and unusual foliage and yellow, late spring flowers. Leaves are rich green, squarish and lobed at the tips, hollowed at the bases with pointed lobes on each side, turning brilliant yellow in fall. Flowers are large, pale yellow and cup-shaped, to 2 1/2 inches long. Great for creating shade where there is none, this fast growing tree does not get that wide considering its height. Not suggested for small properties. May be brittle during ice or wind storms. |
