| The thin, ovate, glaucous, green joints reach up to 2 to 3 inches in length and have 1 or 2 brownish spines of 1 inch extending from the upper areoles while brown glochids cover the surface. In summer the large flowers are borne singly and then produce fruit. This genus has the largest membership of sun loving species. Australia has even banned a few species because of their rapid growth. |
